Sunset at Monoliths’ Beach – Work in progress III

Last Updated on August 13, 2014 by Patrick

And here I am with my newest instalment of my work in progress series of the Sunset at Monoliths’ Beach. :) Finally, after quite a long while I have put down the details on the canvas. I am really pleased with the result.

So, I’ve decided to add more details and depth to the overall image in Photoshop. I’ve also worked very hard on the rocks, especially on the great monolith on the left. I have also added some small vegetation. I thought it was really dull without any plant life whatsoever. :)

As I’ve said in my previous article, I worked on the sky as well and this time I gave it a rather extravagant look, just as I wanted, an other-worldly look, something you rarely see in this world, if ever. :)

I used cloud brushes and some basic brushes with tweaked presets, also, dual brushes with rock textures and some airbrushing to give it quite a sandy look to the beach floor, but not too much because I was concentrated on the warm colored long and silky water waves. I’ve also worked a little to add some overall shadows in the parts that I wanted to hide in the image, in the parts that I don’t want the viewer to look, in the parts that are not so interesting.

In the next part, and the last one, I will refine the details I have so far on the canvas, both in the sky and in the land part, especially in the sunset. I want a little more refinement, because I think that this will make the viewer feel what I felt imagining this. ;)

See ya next time! :D
