Sailing on waves of light

Back in 2013, in October, I decided to go with my folks to Brasov to visit the city a little, and also see the city from above, from the hills of Poiana Brasov, a great mountains resort 5 km north of the city.
After we parked the car we went to Ecaterina Gate, a beautiful medieval gate construction in a park downtown Brasov. I got up my camera and started shooting and immediately I noticed something quite interesting with the pidgeons there, at the gate. I was concentrated on the building itself, trying to shoot it from different angles, from different points of view, but after that I noticed that the pidgeons were nested inside those triangle niches above the gate entrance and I started to focus on them. I got a few shots, supposedly wildlife kinda shots, but then again the scene was with them inside the triangle from the left of the entrance. That was it. It was the most inspired moment then and there.
So, sometimes very different things come up and all we have to do is to be opened to these new experiences that we’re having.

Now, what’s interesting about this image is that I didn’t notice the light below the triangle up until before posting this article when I analyzed the image better. I realised that that is a major compositional element that atracted me also in this shot and it forms these waves on which the birds are sailing. I ignored it quite a while and now I realise that it’s a part of the image.
The triangle is like a small sailboat on which the pidgeons are boarded. So, they are sailing on waves of light. :D
P.S.: A lesson to keep in mind, here: the message one is sending through the photograph should be entirely respected by the image and all its components. That means that the image must express the message and everything that has nothing to do with the message, has to be eliminated from the image or, if this cannot happen, should be made inferior (recessive, somehow) in order to not distract the viewer from the message of the image. Difficult thing to do, but not impossible.
