Silent Moonlighting – digital painting

So, I’ve finished it and post it here. “Silent Moonlighting” digital painting is ready for displaying in my portfolio of digital art.

I’ve thought about the significance of the symbol of the wolf in Geto-Dacian mythology. I also like to consider that most of the inhabitants of the Animal Kingdom, if not all of them :) , are under the rule of the Moon, which also symbolizes something in particular. In art one works with symbols, metaphors, allegories and such, to express oneself and one’s Soul in a manner we like to call “poetic”. ;)

After watching the walkthrough videos of Mike Nash painting “Wolf Spirit” the symbol of the wolf kept me focused at it. I reminded myself of what significance it had to the Dacians, our kin, thousands of years ago. The wolf represented, and still does, being conscious and in a superior manner, being self-aware.

The Moon is the celestial element which governs the mechanical laws of Nature under which we are also. It’s the brightest star of the night sky and gives all things and beings an ebb and flow, a coming and going in life. But what if we intelligently learn to wield it and govern it? What would it take? There was a maxim written on the frontispiece of a temple in Ancient Greece that said “Man, know thyself..”, continuing with “and ye shall know the Universe and its Gods”. By Gods I mean the ultimate rulers of the Universe, as much as being its Creators, and I wrote it with capital “C” because in their might and excelence they are crucial, capital and utmost powerful in the Universe we live. If we go and study all the authentic religions of the world we will encounter principles that were, are and always will be “the watchers” of everything created, without who everything created cannot sustain itself.

But let us get back to the self-aware principles within us. I said that the symbol of the wolf means being conscious and self-governing, master of oneself, and in this painting the wolf watches over the governor of the mechanical laws of Nature. Everything happens, everything lives, everything is because of a conscious act of some sort.

I think that it is our responsibility yet to be masters of our own house. If the wolf is, why can’t we? :)
